VIEWING HIGH DIlVlENSIONAL DATA BY PAINTING MULTIPLE VIEWS

چکیده
This papex reviews and.iJ1ustrates a direct manipulation approach to visualization of high dimensional data, called painting. We describe a programming model based on constraints between entities in the underlying scientific database and the components of plots used to examine the data. The object-oriented implementation makes it easy to extend the original notion of brushing scatterplots to obvious analogs in other contexts. Keywords; Object-oriented programming, visualization, direct manipulation interfaces, exploratory data analysis.

PAINTING MULTIPLE VIEWS: AN INTERACTIVE TECHNIQUE FOR ItFEELING It THE SHAPE OF COMPLEX, MULTI-DIMENSIONAL DATA
This paper reviews and illustrates a direct manipulation approach to visualization of complex objects and collections of complex objects painting multiple views. vVedescribe a programming model based on simple constraints between entities in an the underlying scientific database and the components of displays used to examine the data. With this model, the original notion of "brushing scatterplo...
متن کاملPainting Objects with View-dependent Effects
We present a system for painting on an object in a view-dependent way. The user creates paintings of the object from various camera positions to produce a texture map which changes depending upon the view direction. The paintings are blended on the object, as opposed to blending the paintings themselves, to ensure that novel views are correctly interpolated. This also produces self-contained mo...
متن کاملA study on the effects of imported engravings on the structure of Farangi-sazi in Safavid’s era based on the views of Ernst Gombrich and Kendall Walton
Persian painting has been influenced by European art since the Safavid era, resulting in a painting style that became known as Farangi-sazi. Although some of the engravings used in the Farangi-Sazi have been identified in recent years, it seems that research has neglected visual distortion caused due to transferring images and printmaking process up to now. Most sources and studies on Farangi-S...
متن کاملPointing out of the picture.
The eyes of portrayed people are often noticed to 'follow you' when you move with respect to a flat painting or photograph. We investigated this well-known effect through extensive measurements of pictorial relief and apparent orientation of the picture surface for a number of viewing conditions, including frontal and oblique views. We conclude that cases of both oblique and frontal viewing are...
متن کاملArt Expertise Reduces Influence of Visual Salience on Fixation in Viewing Abstract-Paintings
When viewing a painting, artists perceive more information from the painting on the basis of their experience and knowledge than art novices do. This difference can be reflected in eye scan paths during viewing of paintings. Distributions of scan paths of artists are different from those of novices even when the paintings contain no figurative object (i.e. abstract paintings). There are two pos...
